Ewa Czarniecka
Ewa Czarniecka is a contemporary artist celebrated for expressive rainy cityscape paintings filled with glowing reflections, movement and colour. Her uplifting artwork captures fleeting moments of atmosphere - evening light reflecting across wet streets, figures moving beneath umbrellas and cities transformed by rain and illumination.
Born in Poland, Ewa Czarniecka developed a passion for art from an early age before pursuing formal artistic training. After relocating to London in 2002, she continued developing her distinctive contemporary style while exhibiting throughout the UK. Her work has since appeared in exhibitions associated with the Mall Galleries and Saatchi Gallery, helping establish her reputation within modern British contemporary art.
What makes Ewa Czarniecka artwork particularly distinctive is its emotional accessibility. The paintings combine expressive colour and painterly movement with familiar urban moments - city streets after rain, glowing lights or distant figures crossing reflective pavements. These scenes feel both cinematic and comforting, creating artwork that is visually striking while remaining emotionally warm and relatable.
Although best known for contemporary cityscape paintings, Ewa Czarniecka also creates atmospheric landscapes and coastal scenes inspired by nature. Now based near the Brecon Beacons, the surrounding countryside and changing weather conditions continue to influence the colour palettes, atmosphere and emotional tone found throughout her work.
